limit google search to site only

I currently have a google search feature on a site I am working on (injector-rehab.com).

I would like to limit the search results to a specific site, or a couple specific sites.

Right now I have this:

http://www.google.com/search?q=

Which is the equivalent of a blank google search form, lets say I want to limit the search to the injector-rehab.com site, basically the equivalent to typing this in google:

site:injector-rehab.com *users query here*

I hope I am explaining this correctly.

Any help is appreciated.

trouble with godaddy. pls Help.

Ive successfully imported the SQL file into the remote phpMyAdmin. Now that I uploaded the rigistration.php into my remote server for it to display /published.

But the registration.php which contains server behaviours, couldnt display in the browser. eg.www.mysite.com/registration
it displays an error message :

***
Warning: mysql_pconnect(): Cant connect to local MySQL server through socket /usr/local/mysql-5.0/data/mysql.sock (2) in /home/content/g/e/o/georgeleow/html/Connections/connlog.php on line 9

Fatal error: Cant connect to local MySQL server through socket /usr/local/mysql-5.0/data/mysql.sock (2) in /home/content/g/e/o/georgeleow/html/Connections/connlog.php on line 9
***

The host replies with :

**
Thank you for contacting Online Support. It appears you are either making an improper connection (such as to local host, databases are stored on separate servers than your hosting) or you are making a remote connection; which we do not allow on shared hosting.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide support beyond the basic setup of your database. If you need help configuring or connecting please refer to the Database Section of our HelpCenter.
**

I thought getting a local phpMyAdmin ,export and import it into the remote server will solve the problem.

Might it be " connection strings " ?

Thank you very much ,

and to those who have read this. Thanks. Any help is my Gratitude.

SITE REVIEW: Curiobot

Hey guys...

My girlfriend and I just launched this site and are hoping for some feedback regarding interface, layout, cross-browser bugs, etc...

http://www.curiobot.net

Its a constantly-updated visual archive of some of the wildest and most wonderful things for sale across the internet. PHP/MySQL-driven with some ajaxy stuff and other miscellaneous DOM-scripting.

Thanks for your feedback!

Backlinks in white font on white background.

Hi Guys

I have heard that if some one places a link on a website with your URL in a white font and its on a white back ground , so its there but not visible, that this can have a negative effect.

Is this true.

Regards

Paolo

Flash image upload with PHP - images loading from cahce!

Hello all,
Im using the Flash fileReference class with a PHP serverside script to allow users to upload images to my application. It works just fine; the images are being uploaded to the sever and downloaded to Flash without any problems, plus my PHP script makes a time stamped copy in a seperate folder in case another user uploads an image of the same name and overwrites the prevoius one.

The problem is this: if a user uploads and image and then the same user uploads a different image of the same name, the previous image is overwritten (as it should be) but then Flash is loading the first image stil - from the cache - therefore displaying the wrong one to the user...

It only effects some browsers (namely IE) with particular settings (Automatically check for new versions of stored pages in IE) but obviously I need it to work universally. Also, as ive got an XML gallery on the site too, id ideally like to stop Flash from caching completely (if possible).

The fileReference code is:

CODE:

System.security.allowDomain("www.tshirtsetc.co.uk");
import flash.net.FileReference;

// The listener object listens for FileReference events.
var listener:Object = new Object();

listener.onSelect = function(selectedFile:FileReference):Void {

upWin._x = 200;
selectedFile.upload("./upload.php");
};

// the file is starting to upload.
listener.onOpen = function(selectedFile:FileReference):Void {
_root.upWin.results_txt.text = String("Uploading " + selectedFile.name + "n");
};

listener.onHTTPError = function(file:FileReference, httpError:Number):Void {
_root.upWin.results_txt.text = String("HTTPError number: "+httpError +"nFile: "+ file.name);
}

listener.onIOError = function(file:FileReference):Void {
_root.upWin.results_txt.text = String("IOError: "+ file.name);
}

listener.onSecurityError = function(file:FileReference, errorString:String):Void {
_root.upWin.results_txt.text = String("SecurityError: "+SecurityError+"nFile: "+ file.name);
}

listener.onProgress = function(file:FileReference, bytesLoaded:Number, bytesTotal:Number):Void {
upWin.loadBar._width = Number(bytesLoaded)/Number(bytesTotal)*300;
}

// the file has uploaded
listener.onComplete = function(selectedFile:FileReference):Void {
upWin.results_txt.text = String("Upload finished.nNow downloading " + selectedFile.name + " to playern");

if(position_txt.text == String("Front")){
attachMovie("trans", "transHolder", -16161, {_x:150, _y:120});
downloadImage1(selectedFile.name);
}else{
if(position_txt.text == String("Back")){
attachMovie("trans2", "transHolder2", -16162, {_x:450, _y:120});
downloadImage2(selectedFile.name);
}else{
if(position_txt.text == String("LSleeve")){
attachMovie("trans3", "transHolder3", -16163, {_x:150, _y:120});
downloadImage3(selectedFile.name);
}else{
if(position_txt.text == String("RSleeve")){
attachMovie("trans4", "transHolder4", -16164, {_x:450, _y:120});
downloadImage4(selectedFile.name);
}
}
}
}
Itotal_txt.text = Number(3.00);
_root.upWin._x = 2000;
};

var imageFile:FileReference = new FileReference();
imageFile.addListener(listener);

imageMovie.uploadBtn.onPress = uploadImage;
imageMovie.uploadBtn2.onPress = uploadImage;
imageMovie2.uploadBtn3.onPress = uploadImage;
imageMovie2.uploadBtn4.onPress = uploadImage;

// Call the uploadImage() function, opens a file browser dialog.
function uploadImage(event:Object):Void {
imageFile.browse([{description: "Image Files", extension: "*.jpg;*.gif;*.png"}]);
}

// If the image does not download, the event objects total property
// will equal -1. In that case, display am error message
function imageDownloaded(event:Object):Void {
if(event.total == -1) {
_root.upWin.results_txt.text = String("error");
}
}

// show uploaded image in scrollPane
function downloadImage1(file:Object):Void {
transHolder.umbongo.loadMovie("./uploaded/" + file);
}

// show uploaded image in scrollPane
function downloadImage2(file:Object):Void {
transHolder2.umbongo2.loadMovie("./uploaded/" + file);
}

// show uploaded image in scrollPane
function downloadImage3(file:Object):Void {
transHolder3.umbongo3.loadMovie("./uploaded/" + file);
}

// show uploaded image in scrollPane
function downloadImage4(file:Object):Void {
var randomNum:Number = Math.round(Math.random()*(10000-0))+0;
transHolder4.umbongo4.loadMovie("./uploaded/" + file);
}

And the PHP is:

CODE:

move_uploaded_file($_FILES[Filedata][tmp_name], ./uploaded/.$_FILES[Filedata][name]);
copy(./uploaded/.$_FILES[Filedata][name], ./timeStamped/.time().$_FILES[Filedata][name]);

?>

If anyone can think of a way to sort this out - itd be most appreciated - im tearing my hair out over this!

Thanks,

DrGonzo.

javascript won't validate

In the process of trying to perfect my website and implement some useful recommendations I received over in the Website Reviews forum, I ran into a perplexing problem which is way beyond my troubleshooting powers.

On my Portfolio and Catalogue pages, I have a little java script to show enlarged images in tooltips when you mouse over the thumbnails. the script comes from here, and it works perfectly fine. However, when I run the site through the W3C markup validation, these pages throw up 51 errors - all of which seem to relate to the way the javascript is inserted into the html.

I really like the mouseover effect and wouldnt want to lose it, but Id like the site to be valid html........ Can anyone think of a compromise?

Two other things Im having trouble with - one, the index page is doing a very weird thing in Firefox (works fine in IE, shockingly - this is probably the first time Im writing these words Smile where the title and nav bar slip downwards for some reason (on all other pages they sit as they should). Now I havent done anything to the code that Im aware of to make them do this (well obviously I have done something but I am unaware of it) - if anyone can find it Ill be very grateful as its driving me to distraction.

two - and this is a little one but again it just bugs me - if you look at the left-hand side menu which is included in the left panel on every page except the frontpage, you see that on the about us page it is a few pixels to the right in comparison to all the other pages. Again I cant find whats making it move like this.....

Im sorry this is such a mess of a post, hope the questions are reasonably clear. I wont post code as I dont know where the errors are and it would be too much to post it all - the site is www.celandinewebdesign.com

any help greatly appreciated.

c

Having 2 Screens / Resolution

Hello,

I got two screens, the one from the Laptop and my 20" screen next to it. I set it to be 1680 on the 20inch screen, and the normal 1280 on laptop.

Everything works perfectly fine, but the problem is ... each time i reboot i need to reset everything which is quite annoying.

Is there a way to save these settings for good?

I am using VISTA Home Premium with a 128 MB nvidia graphix card if that helps

thanks a lot

I really need more traffic to my site too! Help Please!

I am desperate! I have read on the post question "I really need more traffic to my site" and have taken their suggestions for that site in consideration. But I still dont know what Im doing wrong. I hardly have any traffic to my site. I just get so frustrated when people say they are getting visitors 500+ times a day. It has taken me a long time to get the site to the way it is today because I am not an expert in web designing and I have had to do this myself with little help.

Please check out my site and tell me what I need to change or what tricks am I missing out on. Maybe there is an important information that I missed out on. I know most of the people here are probably male, and my site is guided towards females, but Id like to hear your perspective.

Thanks in advanced for your advice.

Javascript load Images

So I couldnt quite get the solution Joebert gave me to work last time so I went and did some quick searching, I found a gallery script made in javascript that loads images as its displaying them. Its like what Joebert suggest to me but instead of loading all the images at once in an external js file, this loads one and then loads another, in a loop. However Im no javascript expert and Im not really sure how it all works.

What I can figure out is in the comments, after that Im not really sure whats going on.

CODE:

ads=[]; ct=0; duration = 4;

function switchAd() {
//?
var n=(ct+1)%src.length;

// Check to see if the next-image-to-be-displayed is loaded, if it is then switch to the image.
if (ads[n] && (ads[n].complete || ads[n].complete==null)) {
document["Ad_Image"].src = ads[ct=n].src;
}
//?
ads[n=(ct+1)%src.length] = new Image;
ads[n].src = src[n];
//Set a timer on the function so to wait, basicly makes it so the image has to display for duration seconds.
setTimeout("switchAd()",duration*1000);
}

Flash preloader/export first frame issue!

Hi there all!
Ive got a major issue that i cant seem to overcome!
I have created a simple flash site which loads its content using attachmovieclip. I have created a preloader which works fine. But it does not show the preloader until about 90% has loaded. I have found out that this is due to the movie loading the content of the movieclips that are set to load on frame one in the linkage. SO it loads the content before the preloader! ahhhh Does anyone here know if there is a way around this so that it loads the content while the preloader works?
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated Smile
Thanks in advance

hide your code?

Ive been talking to a much more experienced web designer yesterday and she was telling me she was really proud of herself because shes figured out a way to hide her code on the web, i.e. to write both html and css in such a way that they cannot be read either by IE or by Firefox. She wouldnt tell me how, or why.

So two questions I guess - one, does anyone know how its done?
And two - why would you want to hide your code? Do you do it on your website? Do you do it on the websites youre making for other people?

Just curious.........................

I can understand that in a small market such as the serbian one, if youre a better programmer than the rest you might want to protect your cool code so people wont learn from you and become better competition. But to me it seems almost rude somehow......... Im just starting out and I learn so much through reading the code of those better than me.....

flash sound delayed in firefox

I have a swf which plays a sound on button release. I test if sound is currently playing, then i dont play it anymore, so is not about the code i used.
If i quickly pres&release the button for several times, there is a noticeable delayed in firefox (like 1-2 seconds) after first press and the sound continue to play after i finish the button pressing.
In I.E. or if i just open the swf with the flash player, this does not happen.
Anyone aware of this problem in firefox and is there any fix for this?

Cheap Business Who is getting the benefit user or others?

The electronic media has a very important role in our daily life. Internet is also a source of e-media. People are taking benefits from this e-source. The e-business such as cheap air travels providing facilities to the online users regarding availability of flights on the dates that the user wants along with the rates. See below the two links which I have got while surfing the internet.

http://www.wozogo.info/images/BritishAirwaysresultsonWebsiteA.bmp

http://www.wozogo.info/images/BritishAirwaysresultsonWEBSITEB.bmp

These two links I got from two different websites and these both sites provide the online users cheap air travel deals. Now compare the link A with link B u will find one thing strange that they both provide different rates. Now see the last link below,

http://www.wozogo.info/images/BritishAirwaysActualResult.bmp

This link which I have placed above is taken from the actual airline companys website and compares the rate of this link with the couple of ones which I have already placed above. You will find that the actual airline companys website is cheaper when compared with others.
The main idea of this topic was that people on the name of cheap are purchasing expensive travel packages. Keeping all these facts and figures in consideration our team is going to design a website from where online users can purchase the travel packages directly from the actual airline companys website by using our site. We are waiting for your suggestions and reviews about this topic.

With Best Regards,
Yasir

No internet and slow PC

Hello,
My friend has a HP desktop running WinXPsp2 Home. A few days ago he lost his internet connection and the PC is running very slow.
I ran CrapCleaner.
I was not able to use Trend Micros Online scanner as the instructions in your sticky say, because we cannot get to the internet, but I did run AVG and also Spybot.
Both found nothing at all.
I followed the instructions in the sticky and removed websearch toolbar.
I also pasted the HJT log in hijackthis.de and it gives me 2 unknown applications.
all the rest have the green check or a white shield.
When I turn the computer on a popup shows up about connecting to the "steam network". He says this is to do with online games.
The website is http://www.steampowered.com.
His internet is AT&T DSL.

Thanks in advance
